About Mudumalai National Park
Established in 1940, Mudumalai was the first wildlife sanctuary in South India and is now part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. Spanning across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka borders, it connects with Bandipur, Nagarhole, and Wayanad sanctuaries — forming one of India’s richest ecological zones. The name "Mudumalai" translates to "ancient hills" in Tamil, and the forest hosts tigers, leopards, elephants, bears, and over 500 species of plants.

Best Time to Visit Mudumalai National Park
The ideal time to visit is between October and May, especially March to May for the highest chances of tiger sightings and wildlife visibility. Monsoon season (June–September) is not suitable due to slippery terrain and limited safari activity.
